Bahamas come head-hunting to India
NEW DELHI: The growing popularity of Indian engineers is not only gaining them jobs in US or UK, but is also opening doors to employment in the islands of Bahamas. The Common Wealth of Bahamas is planning to recruit Indian engineers for its upcoming developmental projects.
Though the numbers are yet to be finalised, the Bahamians are busy exploring opportunities in this regard.
"Bahamas has a keen interest in exploring India.
Our ministry of works is interested in the area of engineering assistance and quantity surveying," said Fred Mitchell, Bahamas tourism minister.
"For sectors like tourism, it's important to have a good infrastructure and other facilities. To build on that opportunity, there are a number of infrastructural as well as business projects that the government is currently working on.
Though the projects may take some time to be finalised, we have to look out for engineers to complete the process," said ministry spokesperson Raymond Kongwa.
A knowledge of spoken english and availability of excellent skill sets were the main reasons for looking at India for head-hunting.
